It’s kind of crazy how fast the summer is flying by. Can you believe this weekend is Labor Day already? So far every summer I’ve had either an engagement party or a wedding to attend to and this summer I went to my coworker’s engagement party in Long Island. When it comes to engagement parties, I like wearing something flowy (so I can eat a lot!) and this floral skirt was the perfect piece. This skirt has been sitting in my closet for quite some time, so I decided to finally whip this piece out. It was such a pleasure to see my coworker happily celebrating her engagement with her future fiance and close friends and family. I can’t wait to see her walk down that aisle next year in June!

This is part two of my collaboration with A Classic Time Watch company. I had to do a fitness outfit because it’s something I am very passionate about. Being active and living a healthy lifestyle is something that is extremely important to me so I wanted to show how watches can also look great with a fitness outfit. I love the brands that A Classic Time Watch works with and when I saw this black watch, I knew it would be perfect with a fitness outfit. Fitness is always better when you wear something fashion forward:) Happy Wednesday everyone!! The weekend is not far away!

Vegan Pasta with Pesto Sauce

vegan pasta dishHappy Monday everyone! I wanted to share a recipe with you all that is so easy to make but has a ton of flavor. I am a huge fan of farmer’s markets. I love supporting my local community as much as I can so whenever I am home, you will find me shopping for fresh produce at the farmer’s market. Living a dairy-free life, I have to find alternatives to a lot of my favorite dishes and pesto sauce is one of them. I created this dairy-free pesto sauce that I absolutely love and mix it with pasta and fresh oven roasted veggies. It’s an easy Sunday dinner and I always make extra for lunch during the week.

Ingredients:

2 cups of fresh basil

2 cloves of garlic

1/3 cup of chopped cashews (you can use pine nuts, or pistachios, or walnuts!)

1/2 cup of extra virgin olive oil

Blend all ingredients together and mix it with fresh pasta and roasted vegetables. I like to roast squash (cut into cubes) in the oven at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes. You can also top the pasta with vegan parmesan for that cheesy taste!

Hi everyone! I hope you are all having a great week so far. This is a sneak peak of my collaboration with A Classic Time Watch Company. I had such a fun time collaborating on this special project and it was such a pleasure working with Louisa Wells who has helped me shoot some of my blog outfits in the past. I worked with other bloggers on this shoot and this was 1 of 2 outfits that I got to style. The other outfit is an active outfit, which I also can’t wait to share with you guys! For those of you who are not familiar with the company, A Classic Time Watch has been a leader in the watch industry since 1984. The company specializes in manufacturing, designing, and wholesaling in Men’s, Ladies, Juniors, and Kids watches. They work with brands such as Nanette Lepore and Beverly Hills Polo Club. You can check out more about the company here.

5 FUN AND TOUGH NYC FITNESS CLASSES

NYC Fitness If you’re anything like me, I get bored at times when I do the same fitness routine over and over again. I weight train on my own most of the time or with a workout buddy but sometimes I need to take a class that will push my body to new limits. With so many fitness options in NYC, I am always open to trying new classes and have developed an obsession to some of the best fitness workouts. Below are 5 of my favorite fitness spots that are in no specific order since each workout is totally different.

Barry’s Bootcamp – I was introduced to this interval training workout from my coworker and if you’re looking for something fun that will keep your body moving, this is the workout to try. What I love about Barry’s Bootcamp is the different body parts you can target. Each day is specifically tailored to a certain body part (legs & butt, arms, abs, etc..). You switch on and off between running on the treadmill and using weights. If you’re typically not a runner, have no fear! You can go at your own pace. The more you take the classes, the better you will get at it. I am never a fan of running on the treadmill at the gym, but I will do it at Barry’s because it’s fun and the instructors will make you go at different speeds. The lights are dimmed down and the music is blasting so it kinda feels like you are doing fitness at a club! Each class is 34$ but you can also try Barry’s on classpass. Don’t forget to stop by their fuel bar when you’re done with the workout. Their protein shakes are a great treat to have!

Tone House – The first time I tried this movement training class was through Classpass and I have to say it is definitely one of the hardest workouts I have ever done. I was dripping sweat and so sore after the class but that is the kind of workout I like! Tone House is an athletic-based, sports conditioning workout. You are constantly moving with transitions from explosive to non-explosive exercises combined with resistance and velocity training techniques. You work as a team and you leave the class feeling energized and accomplished. If this is your first time trying Tone House, there is a Tone House 101 that will give you an understanding of what to expect in a typical Tone House class. It is recommended to take three of these 101 classes before you start trying out others. Each Tone House class is 40$ each but for first time members you can get 2 classes for $40. This is also on classpass too!

SLT (Strengthen Lengthen and Tone) – If you’re looking to work your core and tone you’re body this is the class for you. I never knew how tough Pilates was until I took this class. My entire body was sore the next day and I worked out muscles that I never knew even existed. SLT involves using a megaformer and in 50 minutes you will strengthen your core, lengthen your limits, and tone your body. This class makes you push past your comfort zone and each time I keep doing this class, the stronger and more tone I feel. Each class is 40$ but if you are a first time member you can try this class for just $20!

City Row – Looking for a fun upper body workout? This rowing class is for you. However it’s more than just rowing! The workout involves alternating intervals on and off the rower machine delivering a high intensity sweat, low impact burn, and total body results. I love working out my arms and I think tone arms are a great feature to show off in a strapless or sleeveless dress! This class really helps tone my arms and I love how it pushes me to go harder each time. Each class is $32 but you can try your first class for $20. City Row is also on classpass.

Flywheel – CARDIO CARDIO CARDIO! We love it and hate it at the same time. When I want a good cardio class, a fun spin class with heart pounding music like Flywheel is my go to workout. It’s more than just riding a bike. The energizing music gets you going and you’re riding the bike at different speeds and resistance. If you like a little bit of competition you can put your name on the board and see how you are doing compared to the other riders in the class. You can choose between a 45, 60 or 90 minute class. Each class is $34 and you can try out your first class for $15. Flywheel is also a part of classpass.

My weekend has officially started! I am taking a much needed long weekend to head out to Montauk. As always, rompers are my go to pieces for the summer. I wore this black lace romper for my birthday a couple of months ago, but I plan on wearing it again this weekend for a dinner at Navy Beach. Did I mention that this romper is super affordable! Seriously it’s less than twenty dollars!! I’ve been working out like crazy on my legs and I have to say I have been seeing amazing changes. The summer is the time to work out hard and show off those nice legs ladies!! Stay motivated and be consistent. It takes time but in the end it will be worth it!

My Dairy-Free Lifestyle

Hello everyone!! I’ve decided to get more personal with my blog and add more about my fitness and health. I recently started a dairy- free lifestyle a little over four months ago. For those of you who may not know, I use to be crazy about food. I ate whatever I basically wanted – pizza on the weekend, pasta, breads, etc. I was never fat or overweight but I definitely did not feel tone or fit. I guess you could say I was “skinny fat”. I did work out. I did stuff at the gym, tried out insanity, was a member at a boxing club but for some reason I still was not achieving the body that I wanted. I went through the phase of crazy partying, going to festivals till the crack of dawn, but always just feeling like absolute crap every weekend. I would be hungover and ate like shit. Let’s be real, we all have been there. I would be the one ordering a bagel with cream cheese or a massive burger with fries every weekend. I decided enough was enough and I really wanted to achieve that fit and tone body. I read many articles online about how giving up dairy made a lot of people feel great and energized and decided to give it a try. I was pretty good on not eating dairy during the week but weekends were my downfall (umm…3 slices of pizza!!!). I will admit it was extremely hard at first. I was exhausted, grumpy, and wanted to eat dairy so bad. I knew my body was trying to detox and I had to fight the urges. I changed up my diet too by eating whole foods (lots of veggies, lean meats, good fats, nuts, etc) to nourish my body. I cut out refined sugars and processed carbs and slowly my body was adjusting and my cravings for dairy were slowly going away. Now my body only craves healthy food. I don’t even think about eating dairy and I’ve never felt or looked better. I work out 5-6x a week and absolutely love working out now. I do NOT cheat on weekends to have that tiny of amount of dairy. If I go out to eat, I make sure there is no dairy used, which is why vegan restaurants are my best options. So what benefits have I noticed going diary-free?

  1. More energy– my energy levels increased. I don’t feel lazy or tired anymore and I’m actually always in the mood to workout! I now try to fit in a workout as much as I can
  2. Less bloated – dairy causes your stomach to feel bloated. You know that feeling. That feeling of being fat and being able to stretch your stomach out as if you looked pregnant. Well I have to say not eating dairy makes me feel skinny and my stomach is way less bloated!!
  3. Clearer skin – my skin cleared up a lot from cutting out dairy. There have been studies that show that dairy can cause acne. Eliminating dairy has allowed me to have clear and glowing skin. I’ve thrown out my foundation and only use a light BB cream now. I love it!! I am an advocate for natural beauty and less makeup
  4.  Weight loss – going dairy free has also allowed me to lose weight and with all my workouts that I have been doing, I look and feel way more fit and tone.

I am in love with my lifestyle now. I never want to live the lifestyle I had in the past because the way I feel now is so rewarding. I’ve even convinced some of my roommates to try dairy-free things! One of my favorite dairy-free things is my protein shake that I have everyday after a workout. It’s packed with 24 grams of protein and it literally tastes like a delicious milkshake. It comes in 3 different flavors- vanilla chai, chocolate, and berry. The chocolate is one of my favorites! If you would like to learn more about these amazing shakes or want to try ones that aren’t dairy-free, feel free to shoot me an email (tiffany@livinginheels.com) and I would be happy to answer any questions you may have! Stay posted, I will be adding more stuff on my fitness routine and some cool recipes that I’ve learned to make!

Stay healthy and active XOXO

It’s officially summer!! (even though I consider the start of Memorial Day weekend as the beginning of summer) So far my summer has been so much fun and July is only going to get crazier. Last weekend I sang my heart out at the Jason Aldean and Thomas Rhett country concert at the the Nikon Jones Beach theater. I highly recommend this venue if you never been. You are literally on the beach facing the water with a spectacular view.  My summer go to outfit is a romper. You will see me wearing them a lot this summer. It’s just so simple to throw on and walk out the door. I love this lace romper from 6 Shore Road. The sexy back makes this a fabulous piece to wear at night to go out with friends or you can totally dress this down with a pair of chucks or cute lace up flats!

Hello everyone! So sorry for the delay in posts. It’s been a crazy past few weeks. I came back from a cruise a couple of weeks ago and it felt great to just relax and not use my phone.  I was able to fully take in the scenery and I really got to enjoy my time with my family. I am so happy that I am tan! These pictures were taken before my trip (hence the paleness!). For me, summer has officially started. I had a fabulous Memorial Day weekend with my friends. Now that the weather is much warmer, I am kissing goodbye to black colored clothes and saying hello to more white and pastel/bright colored clothing! Let the tanning begin!
