A little less than a week till Christmas! Do you know what you are wearing yet? Whether your traveling, hosting a party, or just spending time with close friends and family, I wanted to do a post to show you what you can wear to a house holiday party. Every year its a tradition for my family to host a fabulous Christmas party with delicious food, homemade desserts, and a massive amount of wine! For a house party, I like wearing something classy and festive. This year I collaborated with my blogger friend Brittni of Glam York on this fun holiday post! I picked out these amazing sparkly pants that literally fit like a glove. I always like wearing red for the holidays and this gorgeous silk red top is the perfect touch. Red is a fabulous color that looks fantastic on everyone. I wanted to add a pop of prints with these snake printed heels and I am so obsessed with this wool draped coat. It's a must-have and a piece that I am constantly wearing on repeat. I hope everyone gets all their last minute shopping in before Christmas. I know it can definitely be stressful at times (trust me, I have to complete my holiday shopping list still), but remember to take a step back, look at all the beautiful lights, and enjoy this festive time with close friends and family. Enjoy your weekend!!

MOMENTS OF CHIC PART 2

12.15.2014

photos by Glam York

This is part two of my "moments of chic" collaboration with Piperlime. I was so honored to have the opportunity to work with Piperlime again. This time, I wanted to elevate the typical New York City "all black" look. Most of us stick to wearing all black to work because it's flattering and can make anyone look put together. This black pencil skirt is form fitting and a great staple to have in your work wardrobe and it pairs so well with this black cropped cami. Did I mention that this top is also great to wear on a night out or for date night? But since it's the holiday season, I wanted to add some fun to this all black combo by layering on a crisp white blazer, leopard coat, and bold red lips! I love the contrast of the leopard coat paired with these snake skin heels. I have to admit that I was a bit nervous pairing these two prints together but honestly it worked out perfectly! Sometimes you just have to take a risk with your look and I have to say, I would definitely rock this look to work on a daily basis. This outfit is also great for a company holiday party! I hope everyone had a great weekend! My brother graduated over the weekend from Bloomsburg University and I am so happy for him! It's always a huge accomplishment when you've graduated with college and I know my brother will kill it in the real world! Happy Monday everyone!!

HOW TO BREAK YOUR JEANS IN THE PROPER WAY

how to break in your jeans the proper way

So how do you break your jeans in the proper way? The truth is NEVER WASH YOUR JEANS. Yes, you heard it right. NEVER wash them! Don't believe it? Well according to Yahoo! Style, Joe Zee, Editor in Chief, learned this lesson directly from a cowboy and had been educated at the beginning of his career from designers and executives at Levi's (denim manufactured for cowboys). Denim was designed as a tightly woven cotton with an indigo pigment coloring that was meant to "break down" and fade over time through wear and tear. If you want your jeans to have that natural fade over time, you have to allow the dirt and natural particles to settle into your brand new jeans where it will start to work in the breaking down of those rigid cotton fibers. So if you throw your jeans into the wash, you will lose that natural fade and the color of your jeans will fade into a flat color. Thank god I always listened to my mom when she told me to never wash my jeans! But if you're freaking out over this concept, there are three ways to keep your denim fresh while keeping the fade authentic. So don't worry, you won't have to smell like you never wash your clothes. Just follow these three simple steps from Yahoo! Style:

1. FREEZE YOUR JEANS: throw your folded jeans (do not bag it) into the freezer overnight and that will help freeze most of the bacteria and odor off

2. SPRITZ YOUR JEANS WITH VODKA: fill a spray bottle with vodka and do a light spritz on certain areas to get rid of and kill any unwanted odors

3. DRY CYCLE ONLY: if you want your jeans to be "freshened up", toss your jeans inside out for 20 minutes in the dryer

I personally just throw my jeans inside out in the dryer. I find that to be the easiest way to freshen up my jeans. If I do end up getting a minor stain on my jeans, I always have a tide to go pen with me and that seems to always do the trick! So remember NEVER wash your jeans!! It's such a simple lesson that will allow your jeans to have that natural fade. I love a comfortable pair of form fitting jeans! What's the best accessory for your everyday jean during this cold winter season?!…bright, bold, and cheap socks!! A great pair of fun socks make the perfect stocking stuffer for anyone on your holiday list. I love wearing my camp socks with jeans and ankle booties. Shop some fun and bold printed socks here

TOP 5 HOLIDAY DESSERTS

12.11.2014

top 5 holiday desserts to bake this holiday season

Every year my family and I have a tradition of baking cookies and other delicious goodies during the holiday season. It's a time for all of us to catch up on our lives and spend quality time. The holidays for me are always about close friends and family. Especially since most of us are so busy with our lives, this is the time for me to unwind, drink some hot chocolate, and just enjoy good company. I always look forward to this time of the year because my mom always insists on trying new recipes and I love the aroma of fresh cookies baking in the oven. This year my mother and I have found some delicious recipes to test out in our kitchen and these are my top 5 that I am dying to try! A few of these desserts are gluten free while the others are definitely worth splurging on during this time of the year! I hope these recipes will inspire you to whip up something new for the holidays! Do you have any holiday traditions?
