Happy New Year everyone!! This is the time to start thinking about your goals and what you would like to accomplish for 2017. For me, I am looking to push myself harder when I work out. I want to travel more and learn to enjoy the little things in life. Additionally, I want to improve myself and not care about what other people think about me. My trainer has really been pushing me in all of my workouts and this one is one of my favorites for the glutes. Check it out and let me know what you think!
Happy Monday everyone! I wanted to share a recipe with you all that is so easy to make but has a ton of flavor. I am a huge fan of farmer’s markets. I love supporting my local community as much as I can so whenever I am home, you will find me shopping for fresh produce at the farmer’s market. Living a dairy-free life, I have to find alternatives to a lot of my favorite dishes and pesto sauce is one of them. I created this dairy-free pesto sauce that I absolutely love and mix it with pasta and fresh oven roasted veggies. It’s an easy Sunday dinner and I always make extra for lunch during the week.
2 cups of fresh basil
2 cloves of garlic
1/3 cup of chopped cashews (you can use pine nuts, or pistachios, or walnuts!)
1/2 cup of extra virgin olive oil
Blend all ingredients together and mix it with fresh pasta and roasted vegetables. I like to roast squash (cut into cubes) in the oven at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes. You can also top the pasta with vegan parmesan for that cheesy taste!
If you’re anything like me, I get bored at times when I do the same fitness routine over and over again. I weight train on my own most of the time or with a workout buddy but sometimes I need to take a class that will push my body to new limits. With so many fitness options in NYC, I am always open to trying new classes and have developed an obsession to some of the best fitness workouts. Below are 5 of my favorite fitness spots that are in no specific order since each workout is totally different.
Barry’s Bootcamp – I was introduced to this interval training workout from my coworker and if you’re looking for something fun that will keep your body moving, this is the workout to try. What I love about Barry’s Bootcamp is the different body parts you can target. Each day is specifically tailored to a certain body part (legs & butt, arms, abs, etc..). You switch on and off between running on the treadmill and using weights. If you’re typically not a runner, have no fear! You can go at your own pace. The more you take the classes, the better you will get at it. I am never a fan of running on the treadmill at the gym, but I will do it at Barry’s because it’s fun and the instructors will make you go at different speeds. The lights are dimmed down and the music is blasting so it kinda feels like you are doing fitness at a club! Each class is 34$ but you can also try Barry’s on classpass. Don’t forget to stop by their fuel bar when you’re done with the workout. Their protein shakes are a great treat to have!

Tone House – The first time I tried this movement training class was through Classpass and I have to say it is definitely one of the hardest workouts I have ever done. I was dripping sweat and so sore after the class but that is the kind of workout I like! Tone House is an athletic-based, sports conditioning workout. You are constantly moving with transitions from explosive to non-explosive exercises combined with resistance and velocity training techniques. You work as a team and you leave the class feeling energized and accomplished. If this is your first time trying Tone House, there is a Tone House 101 that will give you an understanding of what to expect in a typical Tone House class. It is recommended to take three of these 101 classes before you start trying out others. Each Tone House class is 40$ each but for first time members you can get 2 classes for $40. This is also on classpass too!

SLT (Strengthen Lengthen and Tone) – If you’re looking to work your core and tone you’re body this is the class for you. I never knew how tough Pilates was until I took this class. My entire body was sore the next day and I worked out muscles that I never knew even existed. SLT involves using a megaformer and in 50 minutes you will strengthen your core, lengthen your limits, and tone your body. This class makes you push past your comfort zone and each time I keep doing this class, the stronger and more tone I feel. Each class is 40$ but if you are a first time member you can try this class for just $20!

City Row – Looking for a fun upper body workout? This rowing class is for you. However it’s more than just rowing! The workout involves alternating intervals on and off the rower machine delivering a high intensity sweat, low impact burn, and total body results. I love working out my arms and I think tone arms are a great feature to show off in a strapless or sleeveless dress! This class really helps tone my arms and I love how it pushes me to go harder each time. Each class is $32 but you can try your first class for $20. City Row is also on classpass.

Flywheel – CARDIO CARDIO CARDIO! We love it and hate it at the same time. When I want a good cardio class, a fun spin class with heart pounding music like Flywheel is my go to workout. It’s more than just riding a bike. The energizing music gets you going and you’re riding the bike at different speeds and resistance. If you like a little bit of competition you can put your name on the board and see how you are doing compared to the other riders in the class. You can choose between a 45, 60 or 90 minute class. Each class is $34 and you can try out your first class for $15. Flywheel is also a part of classpass.

This is part two of my collaboration with Tobi. Again, I love matching sets so I was easily drawn to this Queen Bee set. This is a great set to wear out with the girls or even on a date! I also wear the bottoms to work with a silk shirt. The pants are super comfy so I make good use out of it Don’t forget if you’re a first time shopper at Tobi, you get 50% off your first purchase!! Shop more of my favorites: dresses, rompers, party dresses, bodysuits, maxi dresses, crop tops!

There’s nothing better than showing some skin when the weather warms up. For me, I am a huge fan of showing some skin in the back. I love bare back tops and I love how low this top goes from the back. My newest obsession? Baseball caps. I wear them all the time after working out or on weekends when I have to run errands. It’s been a roller coaster with the weather here in NYC. We go from possible snow to 70 degree weather. Looks like we will luck out tomorrow with warm weather!
Summer is literally only a few months away and its about that time to start prepping for that summer body. I am a huge fan of fitness and making sure I feel confident about my body. I recently (about a month) became dairy free. Yup, that’s right I gave up all dairy. It was definitely tough at first since I use to consume cheese on a daily basis but I have to say I’ve never felt better! I have so much more energy and I don’t feel tired or bloated anymore. I love working out with a friend because you can each push each to go one step further. Below is a fun ab workout that my roommate and I love. It really works the abs and it’s actually fun to do! If you have any other great workout tips, please let me know! Tonight I am going to my first vegan restaurant with my friends. I will let you all know how it goes!

I have survived Jonas! This blizzard allowed for a very relaxing weekend with friends. I honestly was not expecting a lot of snow but when I woke up Saturday morning, all I saw was white snow. It was unreal. Unfortunately I definitely do not wear heels when it snows outside! Once I snow starts melting more, I will be rocking these fringe booties more often. These booties are great for a night out and can be worn with a pair of black jeans or leather skirt (if weather was a bit warmer). For all of you who also had the blizzard, I hope you all enjoyed a relaxing weekend at home! It looks like we are suppose to get more snow again this week. I think I need to start buying more snow boots instead of heels! Happy Tuesday.

I love when a dress has versatility and can be worn from day to night. This beaded dress is such a great piece to wear to work and can easily take me to happy hour or dinner with the girls. I love the fit and how it flows naturally on the body. It’s not one of those tight dresses where I feel like I have to suck in my stomach. The dress has a classy bohemian look that I absolutely adore. I’m also a huge fan of a nice tailored coat and have become obsessed with this long grey wool coat. It’s the kind of coat that I can throw on everyday with any outfit. It’s super fitted and makes you look extra chic. I hope everyone had a nice weekend! I had a delicious sushi dinner with my parents and went out in the city with friends. I’m looking forward to a nice long weekend coming up!

Christmas is almost here! With all the last minute gift shopping, I can safely say I am so ready for the holidays. Thankfully this is a short work week for me and I’ll be taking some time off to spend time with my family. Its a huge tradition in my family to host a Christmas dinner with all of my close family members. My dad is the expert when it comes to making incredible food. I’m telling you if you ever eat with my parents you will never leave hungry. Festive holiday drinks are always a must at our holiday parties. This year I will be making a white Christmas sangria. It’s super simple to make and absolutely delicious. Not to mention, it’s such an eye catching drink with the fresh cranberries, apples, and sugar coated rosemary. I always love wearing something festive and classy during the holidays. This metallic tweed dress adds a little sparkle and makes the perfect holiday dress. Cheers to another fabulous Christmas and I wish you all a wonderful holiday filled with love and laughter from your loved ones!
With Christmas almost around the corner, finding the right gifts can sometimes be difficult. Jewelry is one of my favorite things to give as a gift. It’s something I like getting for my mom, grandma, and even for myself! A nice piece of jewelry can always be worn with any outfit and you can always pick a piece that caters to that person’s style. I’ve created a jewelry gift guide from Blue Nile that would make great holiday gifts. The best part is that all of these pieces are under $200! The even better part is that all of Blue Nile’s regular priced jewelry is 15% off with code BLUE15 until 12/23. So that means extra savings because we all know how high our bills can be especially around this time of the year. I’m thinking of getting my mom these petite knot earrings since earrings are one of her favorite things to wear. My grandma loves classic pieces, so this sterling silver bracelet would be a great piece for her. As always I can never finish shopping without getting something for myself! I love this feather necklace which would make a great statement layered with other delicate necklaces. Happy shopping!
